Concentrators and secondary-field students can count one Harvard Summer School (HSS) Government course, chosen from a preapproved list of courses, towards their Government concentration requirements. The preapproved list for Summer 2024 is below. Before enrolling in any HSS course, please read the information here about general policies for Harvard College students.
Harvard Summer School 2024 courses that can count for Government credit
The following courses can count for Government concentration or secondary-field credit. Unless otherwise noted, for concentrators, the courses count only toward elective credit:
- Govt S-10: Introduction to Political Philosophy (March) (may also count for theory subfield)
- Govt S-20: Introduction to Comparative Politics (Soroka) (may also count for comparative subfield)
- Govt S-1045: Justice (Imparato) (may also count for theory subfield)
- Govt S-1073: Science, Technology, and Political Theory (March) (may also count for theory subfield)
- Govt S-1111: Political Corruption (J. Baum)
- Govt S-1116: Populism and the Erosion of Democracy (J. Baum)
- Govt S-1315: Race and US Politics (Wise)
- Govt S-1550: Domestic Politics and Foreign Policy (M. Baum)
- Govt S-1723: Propaganda, Past & Present (Soroka) (may also count for comparative subfield)
- Govt S-1786: Globalization and the Nation State (Prevelakis)
- Stat S-100: Introduction to Statistics and Applied Data Analysis (Vu & Rader) – only for concentrators wanting to meet the Gov methods requirement. Note that any concentrator meeting the methods requirement with a course outside the Gov Dept is required to take one additional Gov elective. This course does not count as a Gov elective for concentrators or toward Gov secondary-field credit.
