Can Mutlu
Ph.D. Student in Government

Can earned his bachelor’s degree from Haverford College in mathematics and economics with a minor in philosophy. His undergraduate thesis “Political Economic Analysis of Separation of Nations” was supervised by Professor Richard Ball and it analysed secessionist movements. He furthered his studies by completing his master’s degree in Political Science and Political Economy at the London School of Economics and Political Science. He wrote his master’s dissertation on “Centralization and Democratization in Elite-Ruled States Under Threat of Revolution” under the supervision of professors Stephane Wolton and Rafael Hortala-Vallve.
Can is in the Political Economy and Government PhD program. His current projects analyse autocracies’ use of conflict, interactions between ministries and bureaucracy, legislative party formation, and electoral and policy effects European Green Parties.
