American Politics

The study of American Politics draws on a wide range of methodological approaches and intellectual traditions to address every manner of political issue facing the nation.  The field of American Politics at Harvard University examines:

  • The social and economic roots of politics in the United States
  • The functioning of American democracy
  • The politics of the nation’s institutions, especially Congress, the Presidency, the Judiciary, and the bureaucracy, public opinion, and public policymaking
