Justin Brooks, an alumnus of Morehouse College and the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law, is a second-year student in the Department of Government. His research explores biopower, necropolitics, and racialized surveillance in the postbellum United States. As a lawyer and student of Black Studies, Justin situates his work at the nexus of various intellectual traditions, including U.S. constitutional jurisprudence, critical legal studies, and normative Black political thought. Justin is a proud native of Mississippi and enjoys traveling, hiking, and playing board games in his free time.
